Chinese Connection Dub Embassy. The six of us come from all over the world from NY, New Orleans, Memphis, Mississippi, all the way to the Bahamas, and we've come to add a new spin on classic reggae tunes to Memphis while offering our own hard-hitting originals, all the while restoring love and unity in this great city. We've been together for seven years, and these days we're tighter than ever.
From our music to the way we carry ourselves, we're here to motivate and encourage the world to think more and stop reacting to Babylon's strongholds. This group's force will only move through Jah guidance and the love and support of a community dedicated to unity.
Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Agori Tribe is the collective consciousness of five friends and musical collaborators: David Collins, Sean Naughton, Will Nicholls, Nathan Adams, and Dave Hash. Since its inception in 2008, the tribe has evolved into a distinct and cohesive unit of extremely passionate and driven young musicians, each offering diverse styles and ideas to create an undeniably original sound. With Agori Tribe, nothing is out of the realm of possibility. They defy easy classification by fusing elements as diverse as rock, funk, and reggae with blues, jazz, and psychedelia. This unique brand of sonic experimentation comes naturally to the tribe and has helped them to emerge as one of the premier up-and-coming artists in Memphis, TN.
2011 has proven to be a very rewarding year for Agori Tribe. Most importantly, it marked the pivotal addition of key members Nathan Adams (Bass) and Dave Hash (Percussion/Keys). Other highlights include opening for Perpetual Groove, performances at the Bristerfest, LUVMUD, and Fall Ball music festivals, local media coverage including a Fox 13 TV spot, and numerous studio sessions in preparation for their much anticipated record debut. Agori Tribe looks ahead to the future with the intention of building upon this momentum, continuing their musical progression while developing creatively as artists. With their drive and passion, the possibilities are truly endless.
Building off of a successful 2011, the guys certainly have big things in mind for 2012. Beginning with a bang, their win on the Waka Winter Classic tour secured them a spot in the Wakarusa 2012 lineup alongside legendary artists including Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, Primus, Keller Williams & EOTO, sharing the stage with the likes of the Emmitt-Nershi Band ft. Bill Nershi of the String Cheese Incident. The first part of 2012 also included a special gig with Spankalicious, and headlining performances at both the Fools Ball 12 (MS) and Bristerfest II (TN) music festivals.
Ping D. Rose is from Memphis, Tennessee. He has been involved with countless music projects as an instrumentalist or a vocalist. With an interest in songwriting, lyricism, instrumentation, and singing, Ping is on a lifelong endeavor of experiencing music. Ping is bringing forth a force of psychedelic funk-soul fused with progressive hard rock to catch ears and inspire listeners to do anything from dance to think critically. A tightly woven rhythm section beneath an airy soundscape keyboard topped off with screaming lead guitars and soul-pop vocals, this incredible tangent of audacity is worth at least one listen, that's where the addiction begins.
